Volunteering Days
15th November 2011.
Our first volunteer day was attended by several local residents and also a group from Avon and Wildlife Trust. We walked both areas of the site that we were to work on and very soon got into the business of clearing the scrub. We desposed of the arising with a small controlled fire under the watchful eye of Gef Lucena. We enjoyed the day and cleared the scrub with hand tools with some bramble removal with a brush cutter. We shall continue in these areas on January 10th 2012 if not before on 20th December 2010

' Thank you very much for coming out to work on the common yesterday and a particular thank you to Gef, who stayed to watch the fire. It was great to have so much local interest and we really did get a lot done. I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves, especially as we were so lucky with the weather.'
There were three volunteer days in the 2011-2012 season and we plan to have more in the coming autumn and winter 2112-2013. More information about AWT and the grassland restoration team can be found from the following link
