Five Year Pond Project.
South Gloucestershire Council is administering a five year project, ending in 2019, aimed at understanding the ecology of the ponds and drawing up and implementing appropriate habitat management for the key species present. The aim is to integrate the findings of this project into the Higher Level Stewardship agreement for the Commons. The pond project is an exciting challenge to understand the balance between temporary and permanent ponds on the Commons, and to balance the habitat management to accommodate all of the species found in the ponds.
You can find out more about the survey work which has been completed, and the further surveys which are underway, under the 'Pond Management' menu above. Please check back in future, as more information will be added as the project progresses.
