Volunteering On The Commons
Welcome to the Volunteers page.
Thank you for having a look at the volunteers page.
In 2009 there were two walks that were attended by some of the local residents and interested parties to identify a list of small projects that could be carried out at the common. More recently an e-mail went out to those who had attended asking for support and we do have a small group who would like to be involved with work and projects on the common. Initially I was keen to set up a group to look at the original projects and work out a way forward but in hindsight what we need is action on the ground.
At the end of September 2011 we met with Avon Wildlife Trust and they are keen to come and help out on the commons.
We have two Taster Days to get us started. Avon Wildlife Trust will be on site and will bring a small team of volunteers, tools, and a means of heating water for warm drinks provided on the day.
When are the days taking place
15th November 2011 from 10am to 3.30pm
Bonus Date 20th December 2011 from 10am to 3.30pm (please let me know by 9th December if you would wish to help out)
10th January 2012 from 10am to 3.30pm
Where
We will meet at the end of the track to Lower Woods Car Park at 10.00am

Please click here for a copy of the Avon Wildlife Trust volunteer information sheet for new volunteers, which outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Trust and our volunteers. It mentions a volunteer agreement that needs to be signed by volunteers for insurance purposes; AWT will bring copies of these on the work day rather than ask people to sign and return them to the office.
